Deal me in....

Sydney is already is taking after her parents and displaying a love of card playing. She is fascinated by the cards and the sound of someone shuffling a deck. She surprised us recently by taking a card out of our hands and waving it around excitedly.

Here she is pointing to which card she thinks I should play.

Now that she has made her selection she is making her move.....how can I loose with help like this?

Sailing, Sailing...

We took Sydney on her first deep sea adventure...across the Santa Barbara channel to Santa Cruz Island. She liked being on the boat and being rocked to sleep all day long.

Where has the warm weather gone?

Sadly we have only made it to concert in the park once this year. We met my Dad there and as a joke I brought this fuzzy full body suit after he expressed his concern on the phone for Sydneys warmth that evening. I thought it was silly...how cold can it be in Santa Barbara in July you ask? COLD. She ended up wearing it most of the night. Thanks Grandpa!!

Lots of Smiles!

Sydney smiles all the time now and we love it. She even started laughing out loud (almost hysterically) the other day when we put her in her baby bjorn for a walk around the neighborhood. Too bad we didn't get that on video!

San Diego Vacation

Our friends from Iowa (Justin and Rachael) inspired us to take a trip with them even farther south where we enjoyed being tourists for a few days. We made it to Sea World, the SD Zoo, the passenger ferry to Coronado island, a walk through Balboa park and dinner in old town!! It was fun and Sydney wins best baby of the year, she didn't make a peep for 3 days of traipsing around the city. (See pictures on the ferry and at "Sydney's hangout" at the zoo!)

Fourth of July!!

We continued the tradition this year and spent the fourth of July in San Clemente. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and it was COLD! But we had a great time none the less reading, playing games and hanging out with "Lala" (Aunt Lolly) was an extra treat!!

The Graduate!

Congratulations to another of Sydney's cousin, Robin, who graduated last weekend from UCR. Most of the family gathered for the celebration.

Sydney has 12 cousins total on both sides of the family. And she has already gotten to meet several of them. They all seem to say the same thing when they are hanging out with her:

Welcome little Folmar!

Sydney Allison Folmar was born on Tuesday April 13th, 2010. She weighed in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 21 inches long. It is hard to believe how something so small can make such a big difference in our world. She has captured both mine and James's heart in such a short period of time. We think she is pretty fantastic.

She is famous already. Our friends own the pizza place Taffy's in Santa Barbara. Since one of their slogans is

"we deliver" you can look for this family photo on the wall at their restaurant along with some other Santa Barbara babies!! And if that isn't special enough Sydney was born on Greg (the owners) birthday.
